Using sourdough culture is an ancient method of making bread. Come and learn the basics of this wonderful technique to bake incredibly nutritious and tasty loaves. You will learn to make sourdough starters and production leavens and experiment with different doughs. By the end of the workshop your own handmade sourdough loaf will be ready to take home together with your own starter for future baking, recipes and a handful of new skills.   • Ursula has written over 23 cookery books and her passion is most definitely bread! She strongly believes that we can all make great bread and the key to this is just a few things - good ingredients, love, kneading and allowing the dough time!   Ursula is fascinated by the humblest of ingredients and how they can be transformed into pure magic and you will be too by the end of this class. We will be making:
    • Semolina Mountain Bread (see picture!) It has high protein content and is low in fat. It also has low glycemic index that makes it great for diabetics, with many health benefits because of its rich nutrient content.
    • Spelt bread with rosemary and black pepper. Spelt is an ancient grain known to have been used by the Romans in this country for bread making.  This grain is also more water-soluble than wheat, which makes it easier for the body to digest.
    • You will be taking home your own individual biga to continue your bread journey!
